Once installed, the ease of switching the hydrant is unbeatable. We had a freeze in February, I was quickly able to pull the hydrant and thaw it, install a heat tape and replace and still get chores done. The YHME has been in place for over 10 years and not one issue! Can have the hydrant in and out in minutes. I slightly modified one of my units (I have two) to pass a wire for a heat tape during the winter.
